When we started Lovesongs247 our aim was to play a wide cross section of popular songs, across all the different genres, including classics and the best of more current artists.
Our researchers have dug deep into music’s archives to unearth some of the best music since the beginning of the music recording industry. So were quietly chuffed that you like what you’ve been hearing. Internet radio statistics for May 2017 show yet another increase in our average number of listeners per hour! That’s great news and we’re working with your feedback and adding new songs all the time. So we’ll keep on playing!
We didn’t need much direction to find American R & B singing group The Pointer Sisters. The girls from Oakland, California achieved mainstream success during the 1970’s and 80’s. Spanning over four decades their repertoire has included such diverse genres as pop, disco, jazz, electronic music, bebop, blues, soul, funk, dance, country and rock. The group saw its early beginnings when sisters June and Bonnie Pointer began performing in clubs as “Pointers a Pair”. The line-up grew to a trio when sister Anita Pointer joined them. The sister act grew to a quartet when Ruth joined in 1972. They achieved their greatest commercial success as a trio during the 1980’s with June, Ruth and Anita in the line-up. They won Grammys for top 10 hits “Jump (for My Love”) and “Automatic both in 1984. The Pointer Sisters other US top 10 hits between 1979 and 1985 were “Fire”, “He So Shy”, “Slowhand”, the remixed version of “I’m So Excited” and “Neutron Dance.”
The three times Grammy Award winners received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1994. In recent years they’ve maintained a lower public profile but have continued to perform with some additional new family members joining in.
